Merrimac, MA - Winifred M. Hill passed away peacefully Monday morning surrounded by family. Winifred (Winnie as she was known to most) was 97 at the time of her passing and was predeceased by her loving husband George W. Hill (2010), and siblings Paul, Henry, Gertrude Bishop, Beatrice (Bea) Curtis, William (Bill), John (Jack), Dorothy (Dot) Duquette, and Richard (Dick).

Winnie was born on September 24, 1922, in Merrimac, Mass., where she lived the majority of her life. Growing up in Merrimac, Winnie belonged to The Church of the Nativity, where she sang in the choir until just a few years ago. She graduated from Merrimac High School (1940). Winnie also loved golfing, bowling, and enjoyed going out to lunch with her friends. But her greatest love of all was being with her family.

Winnie and George were married October 17, 1943, and she was survived by their two daughters, Jean Conroy and husband Joseph, and Ellen Hill Murphy and husband James. She is also survived by her brother George McCarron and wife Carroll; her grandchildren, Joseph Conroy, Kelli Bennett and Andrea Metz; her great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Caitlin, Alex, Jacob and Colby; and her great-great-grandchildren, Bently and Beckham.

Visiting hours at the Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, will be Thursday, February 13, 2020, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 14, at 10:30 a.m., at the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Redeemer Parish, 4 Green Street, Merrimac. Burial in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac, will be held in the Springtime. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843, who were so instrumental in her last months of life.
