William (Bill) Dwyer Obituary

Newburyport, MA - William (Bill) Dwyer Jr., 76, of Newburyport, Massachusetts, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. He is predeceased by his parents, William A. and Mary E. Dwyer and his brother Paul Dwyer of Bluffton, S.C., who recently passed away in October of 2018. He leaves his sister, Barbara Dwyer and her husband Jack Delgizzi, of Lowell,

Beth Dwyer and husband William Castillo of Seattle, Washington, Shaun Dwyer and his wife, Ondine of Hamilton, Scott Dwyer and his wife Marnie of Truckee, Calif., Laura Dwyer of Manchester-by-the-Sea; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephew.

Born in Cambridge, graduated from Medford High School, he was brought up in Medford, Mass., moved to Manchester-by-the-Sea and then finally Newburyport for the last 30-plus years. He was retired from the construction trade to become a self-employed carpenter, craftsman, coppersmith, and artist.

He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Newburyport and a Eucharistic minister. He was a member in good standing of the Sheet Metal Union, and enjoyed golf and fishing with friends.

He spent many hours working on his beloved boat, which allowed him to enjoy his passion, sailing. Sailing on the ocean was a place of joy and relaxation—it was believed he had sea water in his veins. A lover of gardening and cooking, he loved to share a meal. He was an avid reader. Friends often said he was always the first person there when you needed help.

His community, friends, and family will miss him greatly.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A graveside funeral service is Thursday, January 3, at 11 a.m., at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford, MA. Arrangements by Dolan Funeral Home, 978-251-4041. Guestbook at www.dolanfuneralhome.com.
