Thomas P. Tormey Obituary

Newburyport - Thomas P. Tormey, 85, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday April 19, 2026. He was born in Flushing NY on July 25,1940 to the late Thomas and Delia Tormey who immigrated from Ireland. Thomas was raised and educated in Flushing, New York graduating from St. Andrew's Academy before serving in the Army and would later graduate from NYU.

Following school, he married his wife Angela in 1966. Thomas was a dedicated father and provider, raising his family in Andover, MA before settling in Newburyport MA. He was active, kind and fun loving, with a larger than life personality. He was a member of the Cedardale Health Club for over 40 years, enjoying playing tennis and golf, and talking with friends and family.

Thomas is survived, and will be dearly missed, by his two sons, Gregory Tormey of Methuen and Thomas C. Tormey of Wrentham, beloved granddaughters, Victoria, Olivia and Ava Tormey, sister Rita Power of Cutchoque, NY. and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday May 8, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church on Green St. in Newburyport. Burial will be private at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Tormey's family with his arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' name to Immaculate Conception Church 42 Green Street Newburyport, MA 01950.
