Beverly - Theresa L (Dechene) Picariello, 91, beloved wife of the late Frank J. Picariello, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020, surrounded by her loving children at CareOne at Essex Park in Beverly.
Born on December 17, 1928, in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Yvonne (Lebel) Dechene.
She married her husband Frank J. Picariello on April 24, 1949, raised a family of six children, and lived her entire life in Beverly.
She attended the Washington School, Briscoe Junior High, and graduated from Beverly High in 1947.
She was a dedicated mother and housewife who loved cooking, sewing, and decorating the house throughout the year. She often enjoyed summertime walks at Dane Street Beach and Lynch Park. She was an active member of the Vittori-Rocci Post where she took great pride creating and decorating the banquet hall for monthly dances and special events. She volunteered to help with various functions which included special trips to the Veterans Homes to bring cheer to many. She was a lifelong member of the Saint Mary's Star of the Sea Parish. She loved the St. Mary's Drum and Bugle Corps and very proud to attend rehearsals, parades, and competitions to cheer on her two brothers, four sons and daughter, and several cousins and nephews. She gave haircuts and mended uniforms for many and made a flag for the Corps during their transition from the church.
She loved to bowl, play 500 rummy, and was an avid reader. She could often be seen shoveling snow on Bridge Street during the winter. Her favorite event each year was to host an open house during the annual Fourth of July Ryal Side parade where the Picariello Family Drumline would serenade the parade as it passed the corner of Doane Avenue. She loved to dance every line dance but would melt away in the arms of Frank, her husband of 57 years. It was very special to watch how he swept her off her feet with a loving smile.
