Amesbury, MA - Stewart "Skip" Chapman peacefully passed away alongside his family on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019.

Stewart was born in Detroit, Michigan, on December 2, 1928. He graduated from Mount Clemens High School and thereafter traveled the country alongside his best friend Sox. After traveling he joined the U.S. Navy Submarine Division where he served on the USS Chopper and the USS Sea Poacher. Stewart married the love of his life, Mary Chapman, in August of 1955. Together they moved to Amesbury, Mass., where he was a resident for 39 years. He was also a Real Estate Agent in Amesbury with Vernon and Martin Real Estate. Stewart was an avid college football fan, especially for the Michigan Wolverines. He had a passion for gardening, the outdoors and especially watching and feeding the birds.

Stewart is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary V. Chapman; his oldest daughter Maryann and husband John, along with grandchildren, Tara, Katie, Danyelle and Timothy; daughter Diane and her husband Wayne, along with grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew and Marc; daughter Joann along with grandchildren Daniel, David, and Daryl; and daughter Katherine Ann; and his beloved cat Princess. Stewart was also the great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated this Monday, November 11, at 11:30 a.m., in the Holy Family Parish Church 2 School St. in Amesbury with military honors to follow. All are welcome. Burial will be at a later time. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury.
