Georgetown - Stephen K. Kochakian, 90, of Georgetown, MA, passed away peacefully with loving family at his side on September 25, 2022 at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley.
He was born in Haverhill on Jan. 17, 1932, son of the late Robert and Irene (Haas) Kochakian.
Stephen was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a steamfitter-welder by trade and was employed with F. H Maroney Plumbing & Heating for 40 years before retiring. He was a member of the Union for 68 years and at various times a member of Local 486, Local 138 and Local 537.
He was an active 62-year member of the Charles C. Dame Lodge A.F.&A.M. in Georgetown and was very involved with the Union Building Association and the upkeep of the Masonic Lodge and Building.
He was Scoutmaster and Scout Advisor to Boy Scout Troop 51 for over 55 years and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for his long-time distinguished service to the Boy Scouts.
He was a lifetime member of the Georgetown Fish and Game Club and Associated Member of the Erie 4 Fire Department.
He and the love of his life, Barbara, loved their home and spent countless hours tending to their home, vegetable garden and flower gardens, enjoyed summer vacations spent in Nantucket, travelling, camping and fishing in the White Mountains. He was an avid model train buff, enjoyed building his basement railroad and playing trains and was a member of the Model Railroad Club in No. Conway, NH.
He was the husband of the late Barbara J. (Hart) Kochakian who passed in 2016. He is survived by his sons, Scott S. Kochakian and his wife, Lynne, of Haverhill and Robert H. Kochakian of Early Branch, SC; brother, Ronald Kochakian of Lake Wales, FL; grandchildren, Lauren E. Diener and her husband, William Diener, Matthew R. Kochakian and his wife, Wendy and Emily J. Kochakian; Great grandchildren Abby Kochakian, Harper Kochakian, Sarah Diener, Danielle Diener and Joanna Diener and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward, Kenneth and Howard Kochakian, and father-in-law of the late Gail Kochakian.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Friday, September 30th from 9:00 to 10:30 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main Street, Bradford, MA. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 at the funeral home. Interment with Air Force honors will be in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown, MA.
