Tampa - Tampa - Sharon Berube, formerly of Newburyport, MA, passed away in Tampa, FL, on July 12, 2025, three days shy of her 84th birthday. She was the wife of the late Bertram Berube; they shared 58 years together.
Survived by her son Brian Berube and wife, Elyse, of Haverhill, MA; daughter Kathryn Ortega and husband, Eduardo, of Tampa, FL; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Maloney; great grandson Gunnar Anderson of Haverhill, MA; brother Stephen Harrington and husband Jeff Chelgren, of Lynn, MA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by sister Meredith Roubo and brother David Harrington.
Sharon Faye Harrington was born to the late Fay and Dora Harrington on July 15, 1941 in Dexter, ME. She attended Gorham High School and Gorham State Teacher's College. She met her husband, Bert, working at Morse Shoe in Boston, MA.
Later, the couple settled in Newburyport, MA, where Bert was a high school guidance counselor, and Sharon relished being a stay-at-home mom. In 1971 Sharon began her 32-year career at the IRS.
Upon retiring, the couple moved to Hudson, FL, to escape the northern winters and enjoy leisure time. Sharon was an avid knitter, sewer and an accomplished singer, performing with the Newburyport Choral Society for over 20 years.
Visiting hours will be held at the Berube Funeral Home, 191 Lafayette St, Salem, MA, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. and her funeral Mass will be Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 42 Green St Newburyport, MA.
