Mooresville - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth May Hurley, age 91, on April 19. She was born in Stoneham, MA on May 1, 1934, and graduated from Malden High School with the Class of 1952.

Ruth will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A longtime resident of Rowley, Massachusetts, she raised her family there, creating a warm, inviting home, and making everyone feel welcomed and cared for.

Ruth was a talented small business owner, creating custom slipcovers and draperies and selling textiles. She was truly an artist in her craft and a woman of many talents and interests. In her later years, she found joy in line dancing and playing cards with close friends, but nothing brought her more happiness than tending to her perennial and vegetable gardens.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband, William Hurley, whom she married in 1980. They shared 25 wonderful years together until his passing in 2005. She was also predeceased by her sister, Jean Zafiris, and brother-in-law, John Zafiris.

She is survived by her three children, Nancy Fox, Donald (Pat) Lippoldt, and Bruce Lippoldt; her nephew, John Zafiris, Jr.; her grandchildren, Christopher Fox Jr., and Katlin Rice and her husband Dan; and her four great-grandchildren, Nolan and Dylan Fox, and Ellie and Jack Rice. Ruth is also survived by her stepchildren, William Hurley Jr. and his wife, Peggy, and Terry Frederick and her late husband, Louie; and her step-grandchildren, Louis, Kyle, Andrew, and Alora Frederick.

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor Ruth and her full and meaningful life.
