Byfield - Born December 21, 1925 in Manhattan, NY, Robert Deane Stoehr passed away on March 29, 2025 at the Anna Jacques Hospital. Known as Deane, he lived in Byfield, MA since 1954. He grew up in Bayside, NY, the youngest of four siblings. During WWII he served in the U. S. Army Air Corps and trained as a tail gunner in B-29s. He attended Lehigh University, then married Joan Boenke, his high school sweetheart, who passed away in 2001 after battling cancer.
Deane joined White Pine Sash Company, the family business, that manufactured the ubiquitous window sash that you now so often see being replaced after 50-75 years of service. He moved to Reading, MA in 1948 to operate the New England branch of the business in Everett. In later years Deane worked for Donahue Motors in Newburyport.
He and Joan were active golfers and were members of Ould Newbury Golf Course where he served as secretary.
Deane is survived by his children Jeffry Stoehr and his wife Joyce of Byfield, Shelley Bialka and her husband Robert of Brighton, MA and Andrea Stoehr of Byfield; his grandchildren Brian Blitz-Stoehr and his wife Jenah of Tewksbury, MA, Karen Dale and her husband Ben of Pasadena, CA, Chris Bialka and his wife Laura of Summit, NJ; and four great-grandchildren: Melody Bialka, Phoenix Blitz-Stoehr, and Dorothy & Beatrice Dale.
