Newbury - We sadly announce the death of Richard "Dick" Stewart. He died on January 11, 2026 at his residence in Newbury, MA. Dick was born in Winchester, MA to Neil and Charlotte Stewart on September 2, 1941.
Dick graduated from Ipswich High School and Beverly Trade School. He was a Ford mechanic at Toby Ford, Beverly, retiring after 42 years from ford dealerships. After retirement he worked a short time for Angie's Auto on Plum Island and Jay Gallant Pool.
He has been married to Barbara (Dan) Stewart for 58 years.
Dick could fix anything and enjoyed doing it. He loved his Model A Ford which he built in the '70's and was featured in Whips and Wheels newspaper, he was pretty proud!
He enjoyed his yearly trips to Florida visiting his Florida friends. He enjoyed fried food and a good joke, clean or dirty!! He was a past president of Newbury Fire Department, Protection 2.
Dick is survived by his wife, Barbara of Newbury; his sister-in-law Pat Moore of Rowley and his sister Nancy Teel of Rowley. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and many great friends. He was predeceased by his brother Tom.
Services will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Stewart's family with his arrangements.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Newbury Food bank or Newbury Fire Protection 2.
