Chester - Richard W. LaCombe, 83, of Chester, NH, passed away Monday July 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at home.
He was born on June 14, 1942 in Lynn, MA, a son of the late Wilbury and Irene (Hodgdon) LaCombe. He was a resident of Chester for 18 years, formerly living in West Newbury, MA where he and his wife Barbara raised their family and wintering in Venice, FL.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Army. He later was the owner of R.W. LaCombe Trucking for many years. Following his retirement, Richard worked for Breakfast Hill Club in Greenland, NH. In his youth, he enjoyed playing hockey and later in life he enjoyed playing golf. Richard will be remembered for his witty personality, his gregarious sense of humor and huge love of pizza.
Richard was very involved in his local community. He was a member of the Chester Congregational Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 108 in Chester and the Chester Seniors. Richard was also a Master Mason in the Bethany Lodge of Merrimac, MA and the Scottish Rites Aleppo Shrine.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Barbara (Van Dyke) LaCombe of Chester; two sons, Jeffrey LaCombe and wife Linda of East Hampstead, NH and Jonathan LaCombe and wife Colleen of Chester; three grandchildren, Morgan Obert and her husband Matthew, Kendra LaCombe and her partner Hagen Davis, and Kourtney Benavidez and her wife Kayla; four great-grandchildren, Hazel, Avery, Khloe and Quinn; late siblings; Bill LaCombe of Texas and Ruth Rich of Danvers; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held by the family on Saturday August 9, 2025 at 1 p.m. in the Chester Congregational Baptist Church, 4 Chester Street, Chester. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem, MA. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry is assisting the family with arrangements. Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
