Amesbury - Amesbury - Richard "Dick" Clancy, 87, of Amesbury, passed away on September 18. He spent his youth in Peabody where he graduated as valedictorian from St. John's Prep, Class of 1955. He received his B.A. in Romance Languages at Providence College. He earned his M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College and spent a year at the University of Madrid, Spain. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves and on the Peabody School Committee. Dick taught at Governor Dummer Academy, Salem State College, Newmarket High School, and for 23 years at Newburyport High School.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Suzy; his six children with Carol Fischer: Garrett (Lisa) of Los Angeles, CA; Beth McKinley (Mike) of Port Charlotte, FL; Lisa Rally (Spero) of Hampton, NH; Susan Davis (Matt) of North Conway, NH; Neil of Haverhill; and Christi Maglio (Joe) of Newburyport; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations in Richard Clancy's name may be made to Tunnel to Towers or Wounded Warriors. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. at Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
