NEWBURYPORT — Pauline "Polly" Chase-Harrell, 69, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Ms. Chase-Harrell was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Newburyport, to the late Glendon and Charlotte (Moulton) Chase. Polly graduated from Newburyport High School in 1958 and later Tufts University with a BA in 1962 and a PhD in 1980.

Polly maintained residents at both her Boston and Arrowhead homes until her death. She was president and owner of Boston Affiliates. Polly was an Historic Preservationist affiliated with Boston Landmark Commission, the Boston Athenaeum, Victorian Society of America, Preservation Boston and multiple historical societies.

Polly cherished her travels, many friendships, BBC radio, good books, tasty sweets and great wine.

Polly is survived by her brother and kindred spirit, Dick Chase and sister-in-law, Paula Chase, both of Arrowhead Farm, Newburyport; nephew and niece, Justin and Jamie Chase; great-nephews, Derek and Bradley Chase, all of Amesbury; cousins, Barbara Washburn, Polly Gurney, Carla Dow and William Crooks; and many dear friends.

ARRANGEMENTS: An hour of visitation will be held Sunday from 12 to 1 p.m., at Belleville Congregational Church, 300 High St., Newburyport, where she had a lifelong affiliation. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Newburyport. After the burial, family and friends are invited to a reception back at Belleville Congregational Church. Flowers are welcomed and memorial contributions may be made to Boston Athenaeum, 10 1/2 Beacon St., Boston MA 02108.
