Newburyport - Patricia Ann Kane Hurzeler died at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston on November 4, 2023, of a stroke.

She was born on February 25, 1945 in Springfield, Massachusetts to John and Alice Kane. Her brother John S. Kane II and her mother Alice predeceased her.

Patricia graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Nursing. She moved on to a Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing at Columbia University in New York. Patricia married Philip Hurzeler of New Rochelle, New York in 1972. Patrica and Philip raised their sons Ivan, Stefan and Nick in Granby, Connecticut. During that time Patricia continued her career, teaching at Elms College in MA, as staff at the St. Francis Hospital in Hartford CT, then joining a psychiatric practice in West Hartford, CT. The Hurzelers relocated to Newburyport MA in 1997, where she continued her private practice until she died.

Patricia is survived by her husband Philip; her son Ivan and his daughter Charlie; her son Stefan; and her son Nick with his wife Lisa and their children Kai, Octavia and Leonard. Patricia was close to her daughter in-laws Catherine Delavigne and Lisa Yamasaki. She was devoted to her sister in-law Marcella Kane, her partner Philip Corso, and her nephews John Kane III and Marcus Kane. Patricia leaves behind friends, family and a community she loved deeply. She will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Religious Society, Pleasant Street, Newburyport, MA at 1PM, Saturday, November 18th. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to Oxfam in Particia's name.
