Peabody - Peabody - Nicholas John Chapman, 75, of Peabody, MA passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 at Seasons of Danvers in Danvers, MA.

He was born in Biddeford ME on June 11, 1949, oldest son of John J. Sr. and Jeanette M. (Landry) Chapman.

He attended St. James Grammar & High School, graduating class of 1967, Nicholas graduated Cum Laude from Merrimack College with a bachelor's degree in political science. He attended Suffolk University Law School graduating in 1974.

Nicholas was active in community affairs. He was past president of Merrimack Valley Estate Planning Council, Past president of the Merrimack Valley College Alumni Council, Past president of Newburyport Rotary Club, served on the Board of Directors for The Spar & Spindle Girl Scout Council and member on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army of Newburyport. He was a longtime supporter of Merrimack Hockey Blue Line Club since 1968.

Prior to starting his own law firm in 2005 specializing in trust, tax and probate, he was employed as a staff attorney at Asoian & Tully, PC, Andover, MA, worked in the trust and tax dept of the law firm Ropes & Gray in Boston, and trust and tax officer for Arlington Trust Company in Lawrence, MA.

Nicholas is survived by his longtime partner of 30 years, John H. LeBlanc and his brother John J. Chapman, Jr. and his wife Barbara A. of Auburn, NH.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation on Monday, Sept. 30th from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. James Church, 185 Winter St. Haverhill, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, NH. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Bradford ~ Haverhill.
