Lebanon, NH - Michael Dennis O'Brien, 59, of Haverhill, N.H. passed away peacefully with his beloved wife of 30 years, Lisa, at his side on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. He braved a valiant struggle with a long illness with courage and humor.
A longtime resident of Plum Island, Mr. O'Brien was born in Lynn, the son of the late Daniel and Claire O'Brien.
He served his country as a Navy Seaman from 1981 to 1985, serving aboard the USS Independence. After his service, Michael spent many years in transportation and as a locally known cook.
He was devoted to family and friends, known fondly to many throughout the Northeast as "O'B". An avid Harley Davidson motorcyclist and amateur musician, he and his wife Lisa Mai rode their Harley on all the beautiful back roads of New England, a harmonica in his pocket.
The youngest of four children, Michael was predeceased by his brother Billy O'Brien and his sister, Mabel O'Brien Kalashian.
Michael is survived by his wife Lisa Mai O'Brien and her family: parents Arthur and Beverly Potry of Orford, New Hampshire; and, brother James Potry and his wife Elizabeth of Forest Lake, Minn., his brother Danny and wife Nancy Holmes O'Brien of Falmouth, along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held in 2020, with internment at a later date in West Cemetery, Orford, N.H.
Donations may be made to your local SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or local Animal Shelter in honor of Michael Dennis O'Brien.

It was great to see Michael on the Steelfingers Reunion Cruise in 1998. He was a big part of my Journey with Steelfingers and music in the 1990's. He was a wonderful humorous person with a beautiful spirit. Miss you Michael and Love You Man! ❤️🎵

Mike was always known to me as Ducky. As in Rubber Ducky. When we were teenagers, I used to tease him by singing the Rubber Ducky song to him and tickling him. He hated it but was such an incredibly good sport about it. I even baked him a Rubber Ducky birthday cake for his 15th birthday. Nobody could take a ribbing with more grace than Mike. He was a wonderful friend, and I’ll think of him often. It’s so sad to see him leave us so soon. You had a great guy who loved you dearly, Lisa.

Michael has been an awesome addition to our extended family since Lisa brought him home. He made everyone feel comfortable and welcome even when he wasn’t the official host. You are truly missed. Until we meet again cousin.

Mike is missed and we are honored to have known and loved him. I will miss our animated talks about life and music. He was a great guy with a big heart and the soul of a poet. Much love to Lisa and the entire Potry clan and friends and family...Rick and Carolyn...
