West Newbury - West Newbury - We remember Marie Sullivan whose spirit departed from us on October 2, 2025 at the age of 83.

Marie was beacon of unwavering friendship. Her kindness has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Marie was born to Joseph and Margaret Sullivan of Somerville, MA. She grew up in Tewksbury, MA with her older siblings Patricia Kelly and Joseph Sullivan.

As a shy child, Marie found her voice and direction in her love of nursing. After completing her nursing studies at Lynn Hospital, she received her BS from St. Anselm's College and continued her education at Boston College where she earned her Master's in Nursing Leadership. Her formidable years were at Lynn Hospital where she was Director of Nursing. Marie finished her career as Vice President of Patient Service at Anna Jacques Hospital.

Marie's respite took place at Cape Cod where she found solace at her home in West Harwich. It is where gardening and golfing became more than hobbies and her walks along the beaches of Nantucket Sound reenergized her. Marie also loved to travel. From visiting her sister in various states across the country or across oceans to Ireland or Hawaii where she explored with fabulous friends.

At the heart of Marie's life was her strong faith and love of God. The Holy Redeemer and Immaculate Conception Parishes allowed Marie to further her commitment to her faith by participating in Mass as a Eucharistic Minister.

Marie is survived by her brother Joseph Sullivan and sister-in-law, Margaret (Peggy) Sullivan of Bedford, NH, 8 nieces and nephews, 17 great-nieces and nephews, and 12 great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia (Tricia) Kelly and brother-in-law, John (Jack) Kelly, her oldest nephew, Joseph K. Kelly and her youngest nephew, Joseph Bradley Sullivan.

Family and friends may call from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Church, with her Funeral Mass to follow at 11:30. Burial will be private at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mrs. Sullivan's family with her arrangements.
