M. Joanne Doyle Obituary
Essex - M. Joanne Doyle, 81, of Maple Street, died Friday, June 19, 2020, peacefully in her home with family by her side following an extended illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Eldredge "Brud" Doyle Jr. of Essex.
Born in Beverly on July 19, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Evangeline Perkins. A lifelong resident of Essex, Joanne attended the Rupert Choate School and later was a graduate of Gloucester High School, class of 1956. Joanne was very proud of her hometown and its rich ship building history that was also a very big part of her own family's history.
Joanne's vocation was a mother and homemaker. Her life was devoted to caring for her family. When her children were young, she was an active volunteer in the Catholic Church, PTA, the Essex Elementary Library and the Girl Scouts. As her children grew, she was ever present at their school and sports events. She greatly enjoyed time with her family and her many dear friends, who were like family. She loved the holidays and the many family occasions that were often celebrated in her home or by her pool. She cherished her time with her grandchildren and greatly enjoyed attending their many activities in school and sports.
Joanne loved to travel with friends and family. Taking after her mother, the list of places she's visited around the globe is long and impressive. She traveled extensively with her late husband including cruises in the Caribbean and other trips throughout the United States. She traveled multiple times to Europe visiting countries such as Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain and Morocco. She took trips to Russia and Greece with her mother and later in life she traveled to Italy and an extensive Eastern European cruise with her daughter Laura.
Joanne was an avid golfer who enjoyed her time on the golf course with friends. She also truly enjoyed weekly lunches and dinners with her dear friends.
Joanne is survived by four children, her three daughters, Laura Doyle of Essex, Diane Barrett and her husband Mark of Rowley, Brenda Campbell and her husband Chris of Hamilton; and her son, Brian Doyle and his wife, Kellie of Littleton. Joanne loved very dearly her 13 grandchildren, Erin, Colleen, Cameron and Brandon Barrett, Cailin, James, Lindsay, Eileen, Alison and Sarah Campbell, Thomas, Aiden and Audrey Doyle. She is also survived by her brother, Edwin C. Perkins; and sister-in-law, Joyce of Essex.
