Bartow, FL - Lorraine Lestina (Marshall) Bear passed away on March 17 in the serenity of her lakeside home in Bartow, Fla., surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on January 19, 1930, the first of 12 children born to Edith and Joseph Marshall, and was a lifelong resident of Newburyport. Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Bruce M. Bear Jr.; and adored mother to three daughters, CarolAnn (Scott) Cook of Danville, N.H., Linda (John) Bertone of Newburyport, and Heidi (Jay) Hugo of Falmouth, Maine, and Bartow, Fla.

She graduated from Newburyport High School with the class of 1948 and held fond memories of her days cheering on the Clippers, and spending time with her school friends, brothers and sisters.

Lorraine and Bruce married in 1951 and enjoyed 60 years together before his passing in 2010. She was a talented homemaker, wife and mother. Every evening meal was like a Sunday dinner in Lorraine's kitchen, her sewing machine was always busy, and her knitted hats and mittens are still cherished.

Friends and family were always welcome at the family's camp in Kingston, N.H., and winter retreat in Bartow, Fla.

In addition to her three daughters, loving memories of Mimi will remain with her five grandchildren, Elise Bertone, Devon Cook, Jesse Hugo, Jaimee Hugo, and Lauren Bertone.

Lorraine leaves behind brothers and sisters, Gordon (Judy) Marshall, Gloria Williams, Sandra Gagnon, Brian (Naijla), Alan, Andrea (Bruce) Eaton; sisters-in-law Shirley and Pauline Marshall; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, Lawrence, Gayden and Wayne Marshall and sister Raelene Piirainen.

Lorraine will return to Newburyport for burial with her beloved Bruce at a family service in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts in Lorraine's name be made to Good Shepherd Hospice: 3010 W Azeele Street, Suite 120, Tampa, FL 33609, or at www.chaptershealth.org.
