Newburyport - Newburyport - Lawrence "Larry" Francis Guy, 77, of Newburyport passed away peacefully at home on Sunday April 20, 2025 after a short battle with head and neck cancer. Larry was born on August 10, 1947, to James and Annie Guy. He grew up in Newburyport, Massachusetts and graduated from Newburyport High school before entering the United States Marine Corp where he served four years in the Vietnam War as an aerial gunner.

Larry was known for his generous and loyal heart, sweet smile, playful humor, and courageous spirit. Before he was diagnosed with cancer, he enjoyed going out for his early morning routines especially to Richdale in Newburyport. He helped out there for many years by putting the inserts in the newspapers. He also loved buying scratch tickets from there hoping to maybe win big one day.

He spent most of his time at home with his black cat named Smokey. Many family members and friends would stop by regularly to visit. He loved collecting many things, watching Westerns on TV and listening to classic country music. He was also an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed watching all the games.

Larry was a beloved father, grandfather "Papa", great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his son, Larry Guy, Jr.; daughter, Sandra Guy; grandchildren, Shanna Guy, Coltin Guy, and Lexi Guy; great-grandchildren, Eleanor Lewis; and brothers, Byron Guy and Lee Guy. He was preceded by his sister, Julie Allred; and his parents, James and Annie Guy.

Larry is deeply missed by all that knew him.

A celebration of life will be held for all to come at East Parish United Methodist Church in Salisbury, Massachusetts on Saturday May 24, 2025 from 12:00PM-4:00PM. A Private burial with Military honors was held at St Mary's Cemetery in Newburyport. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home 193 High St. Newburyport, MA 01950 assisted Mr. Guy's family with his arrangements.
