Newburyport formerly of North Andover and Groveland - Joan (Pitman) Martin was an only child born to the late Arthur and Hilda Pitman on December, 20, 1928. Joan passed away at Port Healthcare in Newburyport, on November 25, 2020.

Joan was a graduate of Johnson High School in North Andover. She worked her entire career at Andover Savings Bank as an Assistant Branch Manager until her retirement. Throughout her life, Joan enjoyed her many travels abroad to Yorkshire, England to visit family and friends. She was an avid candlepin bowler and was on the bank bowling league for many years. She also enjoyed music, especially Big Band music from the 1940's. She loved to go to concerts as well as the theater and always awaited the The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra coming to the area to see them perform. In her later years in assisted living and at Port Healthcare, Joan was involved in many activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, bingo, music, live entertainment and church services.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Joan Smith and husban,d John of Wilmington, Deborah O'Neal and her husband Paul of Maricopa, AZ, Wendy Decoito and her husband Richard of Fremont, NH, Susan Poulin and her husband David of Nashua, NH and Mary Kelleher of Newburyport. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Jay, Joe, Stephanie, Dan, David, Brian, Andrew, Patrick, Valerie, Tim and Brooke as well as seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Marilyn Messina and her husband, Joseph of Andover, as well as two nieces, Melinda and Melissa.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, Atty. Bernard W. Martin, a son, William Martin and a daughter, Lorraine Martin Jelenevsky.
