Groveland - To know Jeanne Robertson was to know someone with both strong principles and an enthusiastic creative spirit. To be known by her, was to be invited to collaborate on a project in her garden, kitchen, or her incredible art studio - or to be gifted a one-of-a-kind piece of elaborate fabric art typically in the form of a quilt. Born in Albany, CA in 1945, Jeanne was adopted at birth by William and Hazel McIntyre. She grew up in Berkeley CA with her brother Allan and best friend Sandy Englund. In 1967, Jeanne met and married David Robertson. Their daughter Tamara was born in 1969 and then the young family moved to Japan, where their son, Brent, was born in 1971.
After David's tour of duty, the family moved to CA, TX, West Newbury, MA, and finally Groveland MA. No matter where Jeanne lived, she became a part of the gardening and fabric art community, and over the years built quite a reputation for her detailed quilts and fabric landscape paintings, and Japanese-inspired gardens. She enjoyed family gatherings, especially Christmas, where her home was overtaken by every imaginable kind of hand-made Santa. She died peacefully surrounded by her family on July 22. She is survived by her brother Allan and his wife Anne, husband David, daughter Tamara, son Brent and his partner Suzi Craig, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
