Amesbury - Jeanne Marie (Basque) Sheehan, age 60, lifelong resident of Amesbury, died Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at Anna Jaques Hospital, surrounded by her family who loved her beyond words. She was the devoted wife of her husband, Peter Sheehan Sr. for 37 wonderful years.

Born in Amesbury, November 5, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Jean (Carden) Basque and was a graduate of the class of 1980 from Amesbury High School. Jeanne was the manager of the Amesbury High School cafeteria, which she served for 23 years. She was actively involved with the Amesbury High School community—known for going above and beyond what was asked of her, coached cheerleading for several years, and was recognized through the school system numerous times for her compassion and leadership in helping those in need all around her.

Although Jeanne worked selflessly her whole life, her true calling was treasuring her time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Gram." She made it a point to spread kindness wherever she went, and her special touches made the most ordinary times seem extraordinary. Her love and affection for family and friends knew no bounds. Her smile lit up a room, and her hugs felt like home. To know her was to love and be loved.

When Jeanne wasn't doting on her family, she was in her element rooting on all Boston sports teams, planning her next vacation, or whipping up delicious meals.

Jeanne is survived by her beloved husband, Peter Sheehan. She was the very best mother to Stacey Fijalkowski and her husband Dan of Amesbury, Peter Sheehan Jr. and fiancée Beth of Haverhill, and Nickolaus Sheehan and fiancée Nora of South Boston, and the very best grandmother to Austin, Andrew, and Bennett Fijalkowski. She is also survived by her siblings: James Basque of Attleboro; Margaret Bisson and husband Armand, and Kathy Follansbee and husband Kevin, both of Amesbury; sisters Pat and Mary Anne Basque of Merrimac; Robin Lambert and husband Steven of Plaistow, NH; and Alex Basque Jr. and wife Jaylene of Salisbury; as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends and colleagues.

She is now reunited with her parents (Alexander and Jean); and in-laws (Daniel and Regina Sheehan); as well as her sister, Maureen Waddell; and her husband, Roland; her sister-in-law Elaine Basque; and her brother-in-law, Daniel Sheehan Jr.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, June 8, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, with a funeral Mass on Thursday, June 9, at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Union Cemetery, Amesbury. To keep Jeanne's giving spirit alive, a charity in Jeanne's honor, which will go to help support students in Amesbury Public Schools in need, has been established in her honor.
