Newburyport - Jeanne M. Freeman, 70, wife of Robert W. Freeman of Old Point Road, died Tuesday, December 8, 2020, in the Anna Jaques Hospital following her brief illness.

Born in Ipswich on July 11, 1950, she was one of the twelve children of the late Albert J. and Aldene M. (Marcorelle) Gallant. Jeanne was raised in Ipswich.

Jeanne loved kids and was known as the troublemaker of the family. She often arrived at family parties and weddings armed with games, toys, and water balloons for the little ones. She also loved spending time on the boat, traveling and being the biggest cheerleader to those who she held dear to her heart. Jeanne was always up for an adventure if the opportunity arose. She enjoyed visiting family and friends and going to the casino with her twin sister, Janet. She was an avid volunteer with many fundraisers but the Flag Day 5k held a special place in her heart.

In addition to her husband Bob of forty-two years she is survived by a son, Chad W. Freeman and his wife Erin of Newburyport; a daughter, Amy Napolitano and her husband Justin of Groveland; four grandchildren, Evan and Aiden Napolitano both of Groveland, Logan Freeman and Cody Savage both of Newburyport; four brothers, Roland P. Gallant and his wife Nancy of Ipswich, Norbert E. Gallant and his wife Maureen of Rowley, Daniel F. Gallant and his wife Jennifer of Ipswich, Dennis C. Gallant and his wife Joanne of Conway, N.H.; four sisters, Suzanne Gustafson and her husband Nels of Conway, N.H., Lucinda J. Gallant Courier of Hampton, N.H., Janet R. Corcoran and her husband Lawrence of West Newbury, Claire A. Wile and her and her former husband, Gary Wile both of Newburyport. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart. She was predeceased by her brothers, the late Brian L. Gallant, husband of Kerry Gallant of Windham, N.H., the late Brother Mark Gallant formerly of Hartford, Conn. and the late Philip A. Gallant, husband of Jeanne Gallant of Salem.

A memorial funeral service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home of Ipswich.
