Salisbury - Salisbury - Jeanmarie (Groleau) Lapham passed away peacefully at her Salisbury home on Sept. 10, 2025 with her husband and son by her side after a long, hard fought battle with cancer.
She was born on June 2, 1947 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, MA where she lived for the majority of her life. She was a graduate of Newburyport High School Class of 1965 and later earned her Associate's Degree from Fisher Junior College in Boston. The daughter of Alfred and Mildred (Nolan) Groleau both of Newburyport, Jeanmarie lived for her family and friends, always willing to open her home to anyone. She was a devoted employee of both Arthur S. Page Insurance and the City of Newburyport.
Jeanmarie and her husband Robert were married on April 21, 1979 and welcomed their son, Stephen the following January. Throughout their 46 years of marriage, they were inseparable. They loved rooting for Boston sports teams through the good and bad years, relaxing by the lake in Laconia and traveling all over New England to cheer their son and his teammates on wherever they played. Jeanmarie was often the loudest in the crowd and cheered for all as if they were her own. Later on, she and Robert enjoyed spending weekends in Boston and trips to Maine with their dearest friends. Above all, she loved being with her family and being Grammy to her two grandchildren.
Jeanmarie is survived by her loving husband, Robert H. Lapham, her son Stephen and his wife Amanda (Hall) Lapham, her grandchildren Zachary (6) and Olivia (4) Lapham, her brother Paul and his wife Mary (Cancro) Groleau, her nephew Eric and wife Holly (Giroux) Groleau and their children Jon, Tim, Scott and Samantha, and her nephew Michael Groleau and his girlfriend, Ginger Adams. Jeanmarie was preceded in death by both her loving parents and her mother-in-law, Mary (Wall) Lapham, who she loved dearly.
Calling hours will be held at Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950 on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025 from 12 to 3 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery.
