Amesbury, MA - James F. Haydock, 72, of Amesbury, Mass., passed away peacefully Sunday morning, November 3, 2019, at his home after a bravely fought battle with cancer.

Son of the late Joseph S. and Barbara M. (Morris) Haydock, of Byfield, he was born in Everett, Mass., on March 24, 1947, and was a graduate of Newburyport High School, class of 1965.

He proudly served during the Vietnam War with the United States Army from September 7, 1966, until his honorable discharge on September 6, 1968. After his military service James graduated from East Coast Aerotech and served in the airline industry until he retired.

He loved keeping in touch with friends on social media, and enjoyed camping and fishing, coin collecting and metal detecting, Patriots and Red Sox. Above all else he was ever so proud of his family, who meant the world to him.

In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Alice (Alby) Haydock, he is also survived by his son, James A. Haydock and wife Suzette of Seabrook, N.H.; his daughter, Jennifer (Haydock) McGillen and husband Jay of Newbury; two grandchildren, Shane Haydock and Kayla Haydock; his brother, Stephen M. Haydock and wife Joyce of West Newbury; along with extended family and many dear friends.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, November 7, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, and again on Friday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. immediately followed by services at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be at the South Byfield Cemetery in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.
