Danvers - Henry John Stelline, Sr., 99, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Beverly Hospital after a courageous seven-week battle with Coronavirus.
Henry was born in Ipswich, Ma. on January 31st, 1921 to the late Maria (Diprofio) and Antonio Stelline. He attended Hamilton schools before joining the Army in July, 1942. Henry proudly served our country as a medic in World War II, and was awarded the Bronze Star before being honorably discharged in September, 1945.
Henry married the late Rita (Daly) Stelline in 1942 and together they shared 42 happy years together before Rita passed away in 1986. After Rita's passing, Henry remarried Phyllis (McKenney) Stelline in 1987 and they enjoyed 33 years together until Phyllis' passing on April 6, 2020 of coronavirus.
Henry worked as superintendent for the Patton Park in Hamilton, Ma, superintendent for Tioga Farm, Ipswich Ma., and then later for Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton, Mass. He also served as assistant fire chief for the Hamilton fire department for many years.
Henry enjoyed gardening, bird watching, traveling the country in his RV, and spending time with his large family whom he loved dearly.
Henry was a proud member, and Past Commander, of the Hamilton American Legion Post 194, marching in every parade and participating in all events.
Henry is survived by his four children, Henry John Stelline Jr. of North Carolina, Paul and wife, Cindy Stelline of Florida, Donna (Stelline) and husband Mark Upham of North Carolina and David Stelline and wife, Donna Eldredge of Massachusetts. He is also survived by his sisters, Theresa (Stelline) Zampell, Elizabeth "Betty" (Stelline) Chagnon, Carmella (Stelline) Butman, Virginia "Ginny" (Stelline) Sciola, his grandchildren, Pam (Stelline) and husband David Saverance (and great-grandson, Jonathan), Matthew and wife Shauna Upham, Timothy and wife, Morgan Upham, Christopher and Fiancée Kenna Allman (and great-granddaughters, Jocelyn and Adalyn), Jacquelin (Upham) and husband, Ross Willard (and great-grandson Wyatt), Kerri (Stelline) and husband, PJ O'Loughlin, and Melissa Stelline and Fiancée Colton Whitten, many nieces and nephews.
Henry was predeceased by his siblings, Anne (Stelline) Mazzetta, Mary (Stelline) DeFrancisco, James Stelline, and John Stelline (who passed in the Korean War at the age of 21), his grandson, Dana Stelline and granddaughter, Tracey Stelline.
