Harold "Hal" Harnois Obituary

Newburyport - Harold "Hal" Harnois passed away on October 13, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Hal was born on September 30, 1946, to Ernest and Beatrice Harnois.

After graduating from Lynn Trade High School, he served in the U.S. Army before starting his career and raising his family in Salisbury and Newburyport, MA.

Hal worked in aerospace and electrical engineering for over 40 years, holding positions at General Electric, Ametek, Kollsman & Meggitt Avionics before retiring.

Hal was passionate about technology and fixing anything broken. He loved what he did for a living and made lifelong friendships with his co-workers.

Hal was preceded in death by his wife Linda (Suslak) Harnois, with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage.

Hal is survived by three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren: Tim and Chris Harnois of Danvers, his son Curtis of Texas and his two children, Brianna of South Hamilton; Kimberly and Andrew Bennett of Granby, CT, her children Cameron, and Kylie Downs; Kristin and Al Ferrone, their children Brendan, and Justine of Wilmington.

He leaves behind siblings Anita Creager and Donald and Richard Harnois. Hal was also an incredible brother-in-law and uncle who will be missed dearly.

Among Hal's fondest memories were times with grandchildren at Salisbury Beach, Indian Head, NH, Disney, Old Orchard Beach, Cape Cod and Silver Lake. Hal was his grandchildren's biggest fan at school and sporting events, and loved annual golf weekends in Moultonborough, NH.

Hal's children would like to thank the staff at BrightView North Andover and Hospice of Mass for their compassionate care.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Route 62), Wilmington, on Tuesday, October 19 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, at 11 a.m., www.nicholsfuneralhome.com.
