Gregory Scott Clarkson Obituary
Newburyport - Greg Clarkson, 54 of Newburyport, MA, passed away peacefully in Fremont, New Hampshire after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and kindness.
Greg leaves behind his fiancée, Anne Bash; his son, Johnathan Clarkson, and his wife, Amanda; his daughter, Alexandria Clarkson, and her fiancé, Zach Woods, his brother, David Clarkson, and his wives, Kathy and Petra; and his sister, Danette Clarkson, and her spouse, Sami. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Helen Clarkson.
As a dedicated master electrician for over 30 years, Greg has helped many solve their challenges with his craftsmanship throughout his career; often turning a client into a dear friend. He always had a kind helping hand to extend to those in need, seeking to leave all he met better than he found them.
In his personal life, Greg found his greatest joy on the dance floor. As the founder of the North Shore Swing Dance Group, he created more than a nonprofit organization dedicated to swing dancing. He built a welcoming community where strangers became friends, beginners found confidence, and everyone, regardless of experience, was invited to share in the simple joy of music and movement.
For Greg, dancing was never about perfect steps. It was about connections. Every song was an opportunity to bring people together, every dance a chance to make someone smile. He had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, whether they were taking their very first lesson or had been dancing for years. Through his kindness, patience, and infectious enthusiasm, Greg left an enduring mark on the lives of countless dance partners and friends.
Though the music has quieted, the rhythm of Greg's spirit lives on in every life he touched, every friendship he inspired, and every heart that still remembers sharing one more dance with him.
Gregory will be greatly missed, though he is gone, the light he brought into the lives of others will continue to shine.
