Frances S.J. Spinney Obituary

Lynn - Lynn - Mrs. Frances S.J. (Patton) Spinney, of Danvers, formerly of Lynn passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at the age of 89. She passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with her loving family by her side.

Frances was born on March 25, 1930, in Windsor Nova Scotia, the daughter of the late Edgar and Margaret (Harvey) Patton. She graduated from Lynn Classical High School class of 1947. At the age of 43 Frances went onto further her education at North Shore Community College and Wheelock College where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. While attending college Frances participated in the student council and received numerous academic and social awards. Frances taught Special Education at Lynn English High School for many years prior to her retirement.

Frances and her husband Donald enjoyed spending time traveling with their friends. Frances also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles, reading and doing genealogy research. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Congregational and the Eastern Star Tauntagun Chapter.

Fran was the beloved wife of the late Donald N. Spinney. Loving mother of Donald S. Spinney and his wife, Kathy of Berwick, Maine, Susan Snow of Nahant, and Daniel Spinney and his wife Maureen, of Amesbury. She is also survived by her sister Maetta Jones and her husband, Carlton of East Vassalboro, Maine, Cherished Grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her daughter Alyson Spinney, her sisters Hazel Rippon, Shirley Carter and Ruth Dennehy, predeceased Frances.

Frances's visiting hours will be held at the First Church of Christ in Lynn, Congregational, 678 Lynnfield St. Lynn, of Saturday, February 1st from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with her funeral service will beginning at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
