Rowley - Debra J. (Carnevale) Waters, 64, the loving wife of the late John J. Waters, Jr., of Fenno Drive, passed away with her sons Brad and Johnny by her side on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Beverly Hospital following her long battle with cancer.

Debra was born on November 12, 1956, in Beverly where she and her four siblings were raised by their parents, the late Thomas Carnevale, Sr. and Gertrude (Nadeau) Carnevale, and where she attended public schools.

One of her first jobs was at her grandmother, Susan N Carnevale's assisted living house, The Greycroft Inn of Beverly. There is where she found her calling for helping others. She became a CNA (certified nurses aid) at a young age and enjoyed working with all ages. At one point in her career she opened her own home to Ruth Ropes where Ruth lived out the rest of her years. She gave her heart and soul to all that she cared for. Debra was a compassionate, caring, and vibrant person who enjoyed her family, friends and grandchildren. For over thirty years she was married to the love of her life, Johnny Waters, Jr. Together they raised three boys together building an amazing life. At their home you would always find a couple dogs and a kitchen table full of friends. Debra's home was always open to all. Hosting many parties where there was always a warm welcome and plenty of food (the true Italian way). Debra and Johnny went on many camping adventures all over, until they settled and bought a second home on Baxter Lake in Rochester, NH. They spent many summer there where they would host friends and family, having cookouts, boat rides, and fishing with the grandkids.

Debra is survived by three sons, Jason Koch of PA, Bradford Koch and his wife Jessie of Byfield, John J. Waters III and his wife Elizabeth of Kensington, NH; five grandchildren, Shayna Finocchiaro of Danvers, Kaylyn Koch of Rockport, Keegan and Kodi Koch of Byfield, Estelle Waters of Kensington. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Patricia Jaworski and her husband James of Groveland, Linda Carnevale of Essex, Thomas Carnevale and his wife Cheryl of Beverly, Lisa Carnevale of Gloucester and many nieces and nephews.


Her funeral will be held 8 am Thursday, August 26 from the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich with the celebration of a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in Our Lady of Hope, Church, 1 Pineswamp Rd., Ipswich. Interment will follow in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday 5 to 8 pm. Family and friends with required facial masks will be respectfully welcomed.
