David G. Kumph Obituary

Ipswich - David G. Kumph, 81, of Ipswich, died Monday, April 27, 2020, in the Seasons of Danvers Assisted Living. He was the husband of the late Beverly A. (Densmore) Kumph, who died in September, 2012.

David was born in Boston on July 8, 1938, one of eight children of the late Clifton W. and Eleanor (Homan) Kumph. He was raised on Lawrence Street, South Boston, where he also attended public schools. Married in 1960 the Kumphs made their home and raised their family in Danvers. With a grown family they relocated to Ipswich.

His professional career was that of a salesman in the wholesale floral business, where he made many lifelong friends. He was a "strong family man." He loved his time with family and friends boating in the local waters, and traveling with his wife, Beverly. His hobbies included working on anything with a motor; cars, trucks, motorcycles, lawnmowers, boats, snow blowers, etc. He will be remembered for his kind demeanor and readiness of a quick joke.

He was a member of the Amity-Mosaic Masonic Lodge AF&AM of Danvers, and the St. John Masonic Lodge AF&AM on Tremont Street in Boston.

David is survived by a son, Kenneth A. Kumph and his wife Lisa of Georgetown; two daughters, Christine M. Wright and her husband Brian of Ipswich, Lynne M. Rocco and her husband Andrew of Lynn; seven grandchildren, Jacqueline Kumph of N.H., Matthew Kumph and his fiancée Kimberly Nowers of Newburyport, Benjamin Kumph of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Stephen Sweet and his wife Adrianne of Gloucester, Kody Selvo of Ipswich, Zachary Rocco of Lynn, Jacob Rocco of Lynn; and two great-grandchildren Clara Rose and Gloria Grace Sweet; (as well as his favorite grand-dog, Jessie). He was the father of the late infant Kimberly A. Kumph. He is also survived by a sister, Nancy Bardetti of Plymouth; and many nieces and nephews. David was the brother of the late Allen Kumph, formerly of S.C., Charles Kumph formerly of Maine, Clifton Kumph formerly of Nev., Phillip Kumph formerly of Peabody, Danelda Munger and Elizabeth Pamboukis, both formerly of Westminster.

The Kumph family would like to thank the Staff at Seasons of Danvers for their selfless and loving care of David in recent months.
