David F. Hoyt Obituary

Merrimac - David F. Hoyt, 88, of Merrimac, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Haverhill on June 18, 1935, son of the late Horace W. and Gabrielle M. (Bergeron) Hoyt.

David was educated in the Merrimac School system and graduated from Merrimac High School. Upon graduation, he went on to serve in the United States Air Force. He would later go on to be a professional photographer for many years.

He loved spending his time involved in his favorite hobbies. He was an avid hiker where he climbed all the 4,000 foot mountains. He enjoyed running for 25 years and ran two marathons, was an avid reader, enjoyed photography, especially during family events. He was an accomplished artist, a jigsaw puzzle fanatic, and a book lover. He also enjoyed taking long drives, traveling, going on long walks, watching movies. David was not afraid to try new things.

David is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joan (Dupree) Hoyt, his children Andrea Ruiz and her husband Jose of Florida, and Michael Hoyt and Jeslyn of Windham, NH. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Karen and brother-in-law George Dupree of Merrimac. He was the loving grandfather to his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his loving sister, Carol Dupree, who passed away in 2014.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his visitation on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac.
