Amesbury - Carolyn Frances (Duffy) Winer of Amesbury, formerly of Everett, passed away peacefully at Avita of Newburyport with her family by her side on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at the age of 87. Carolyn was born on August 17, 1938 in Malden, MA to the late Thomas W. and Margaret P. (Conlon) Duffy. Carolyn grew up in Everett, MA much loved by her wonderful parents. She graduated from Boston College in 1960 with a degree in education. A very proud BC Eagle, Carolyn flourished in college and was actively involved in the Dramatics Society, managing many theatre productions.
Carolyn met the love of her life, Edwin L. Winer (Eddie) and they married in 1964. They happily raised their two daughters, Lynne and Kimberly, in Everett. Following the untimely death of her beloved husband at the age of 41, Carolyn taught 4 th grade at St. Anthony's Elementary School in Everett for 24 years. She was a much loved and respected teacher and colleague.
Carolyn was a loving and supportive mother to Lynne and Kim and had much love and admiration for her two sons-in-law, Jack Rogers and John Fish as well as dear friend and honorary family member, David Michaud. When her grandson, Liam, was born she was over the moon and became his number one fan in all that he did. Carolyn was thrilled when Liam also graduated from Boston College, joining her as a BC Eagle alumni. We will dearly miss our Mom and Mimi. Carolyn sparkled with love, kindness and a bit of mischief. She lit up every room she entered and had the ability to make those around her feel special. Carolyn enjoyed reading, travel, family vacations at Rye Beach and spending precious time with her dear cousins and friends.
In her later years, Carolyn was very active with her Boston College alumni group who traveled to Jamaica each January on mission trips for Mustard Seed Communities, a nonprofit ministry committed to caring for Jamaica's most vulnerable individuals. She went on nine of these mission trips and truly enjoyed working with children and adults with disabilities. She formed many lifelong friendships.
Carolyn was the loving wife of the late Edwin L. Winer. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne Patricia (Winer) Rogers and husband John S. Rogers Jr. (Jack) of Amesbury, MA and Kimberly Ellen (Winer) Fish and husband, John C. Fish III of Newbury, MA. She is also survived by her precious grandson, Liam Christopher Rogers. Carolyn also leaves behind many beloved friends and cousins. The family would like to thank the amazing team at Avita of Newburyport for the love, kindness and care they gave to Carolyn this past year. They also want to thank the Compassus team who provided comfort and guidance in Carolyn's final days.
