Newburyport - Newburyport - Astrid Dorothy Lorentzson, 73, of Newburyport, passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Astrid was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She celebrated life in all its forms. Her home was a gathering place filled with warmth, laughter, and the delicious smells of her incredible cooking. Whether hosting dinner parties, organizing ski and camping trips, creating beautiful works of stained glass for her loved ones, or simply bringing people together, Astrid had a unique gift for making every moment meaningful.

She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 20 years, Jack Santos; her sons, Noah Cutting and Eli Cutting; her stepchildren, Nick Santos, Beth Santos, and Nate Santos; her daughters-in-law, Christina Cutting and Heather Arthur; her son-in-law, Marvin Mathelier; her sister, Kristina Giger and brother-in-law Mark Giger of Jackson, WY; and her five cherished grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride.

Born in Westborough, MA, to Ruth and Olof Lorentzson, Astrid was a gifted psychotherapist who ran a thriving private practice. Beyond her professional work, she found immense joy and fulfillment both on the stage and behind the scenes at The Actor's Studio and The Firehouse in Newburyport, where her passion and presence lit up every production.

Astrid was also a culinary magician who could transform any campsite into a five-star dining experience. Her creativity, empathy, and infectious energy left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

A celebration of her extraordinary life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Firehouse Center for the Arts, The Actor's Studio of Newburyport, or Unity on the River.
