Arlene E. (Ronan-Bednez) Rother Obituary

Groveland - Arlene E. Rother went to heaven August 24, 2022.

Born in Haverhill daughter to the late Francis J. and Alice (Barslow) Ronan and graduated from Haverhill High in 1946. Arlene was a supervisor for AT&T for 23 years, a Girl Scout leader and a member of Catholic Daughters of America.

Arlene was predeceased by her loving husband James R. Rother, her parents Alice and Francis, and siblings Francis Ronan Jr, Audrey Campana, Carole Charbonneau, and Janice Lynn, and her former husband John Bednez, father of her daughters.

Arlene is survived by her beloved children. Daughters, Cathy Brodie of Marco Island, FL, Judith Dowd of Groveland, MA, Bonnie Bednez of Georgetown, MA, and her stepson Jeffrey Rother and his wife Susan of Jacksonvillle, FL, and very special family friend Cindy Fournier who she also thought of as a daughter.

She also leaves her brother-in-law Joseph Charbonneau in NC, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was devoted to her husband, children, and large extended family.

Arlene was a fun loving woman and led a very exciting life living in New England, Virginia and Marco Island, FL before returning to Groveland, MA. Memories of her include being a Girl Scout leader at Camp Sacajawea in the 60s with her sister Carole, family cookouts and Christmas reunions, along with beach walks and jet skiing on Marco. Many family members have memories of going with her on one of her endless road trips, often taking unexplored routes like her father before her.

It was Arlene's request that a Celebration of Life be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill & Bradford. In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make a donation to MSPCA-Methuen, MA or an animal shelter of their choice. To share a memory or for more information please visit www.farmerfuneralhomes.com.
