Allen &x22Jamie&x22 Klein Obituary

Allen "Jamie" Klein, age 38, formerly of Andover and Newburyport, Mass., died unexpectedly on July 20, 2016.

Born in Newburyport, Allen was raised in Merrimac and Andover. He graduated from Phillips Academy Andover in 1995, and attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg, Pa. While at Phillips he studied Japanese and Computer Science, and participated in a student exchange program, becoming fluent in Japanese. Allen became an influential member of the fighting game community, translating information from Japanese to English, and writing a blog that connected English speakers with Japanese gaming news. Allen traveled to Japan on two subsequent trips and was the liaison between American and Japanese players in Street Fighter tournaments. Allen had a huge following on his blog and garnered a ton of respect from so many in that community. There are several tributes to Allen from the Street Fighter community including the following link http://goo.gl/AluInp

Allen was a world citizen. He loved all kinds of music and played piano and violin. In addition, he was a student of film, both U.S. and International, and enjoyed eating diverse foods from all over the globe, the spicier the better. Allen was kind, humble, and loving, gracing everyone with his insights and humor. He was thoughtful, compassionate, and always concerned with the wellbeing of others. Allen was the family ambassador, bridging gaps in families and traveling distances to "be there" for family members.

Allen is survived by his mother, Diane Ellyane Parenteau Klein of Newburyport, Mass; father, Martin Klein and his partner, Sharon Magnuson of Andover, Mass; sister, Robyn Klein Patterson and her husband, Brent Patterson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Walter and Lillian Parenteau of Manchester, N.H., and his grandparents from Mount Vernon, N.Y., Allen Klein and Muriel Klein Jacobs.
