Winifred Ottilie "Ott"'s Story
Winifred Ottilie “Ott” Guerrera, 93 of Newburyport, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2016 at Country Center for Health & Rehab.
She was born in Dorchester on September 17, 1923 to the late Dr. Carlton E. and Winifred Allard.
She was the widow of Frank A. Guerrera. They resided in Newtonville, North Andover, West Palm Beach, Fla., Harpswell, Maine and Newburyport.
A graduate of Mass General Hospital School of Nursing. “Ott” served as a Lt. in the Army Nurse Corp. stationed in the Phillipines during WWII. She continued her career as a school nurse in North Andover and Maine as well as a private duty nurse in Florida and a school aid in Newburyport.
She is survived by her children, Alfred Guerrera and his wife, Bette of Methuen, Frank Guerrera and his wife, Mary Murphy Guerrera of South Carolina, and Nina Guerrera of Newburyport, son-in-law, Jim Congo, 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Stephen Guerrera and Mary Ellen Congo, as well as her three sisters, Dorothy Prevost, Elizabeth Boone, and Jean Bonney.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday September 27, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the funeral home. Her funeral service will be celebrated following the calling hours at 12 p.m. at Belleville Congregational Church in Newburyport. Burial will be private.
