Susan G.'s Story

Susan G. Scott of Lexington and Newbury, Mass., died recently after a short illness. She was the daughter of the late Theodore J. Scott and Helen Colby Scott of Hampton, N.H., and the sister of Theodore J. Scott, Jr., formerly of Hampton N.H. She attended Hampton Academy, Winnacunnet High School and earned a BA in Mathematics from Smith College in Northampton, Mass. During her 30 year career as an IBM Senior Systems Engineer in the marketing division, she also taught at Northeastern University and tutored challenged high school students at the Choice Through Education Program in Chelsea, Mass.
She also was a volunteer at Boston City Hospital. She was one of the first women to become a member of the Tennis & Raquet Club of Boston and served in the Junior League of Boston. She was proudly on the original membership committee of Sitzundjibers. In Newbury, she was a member of Oldtown Country Club.  More recently, Susan worked as a realtor in Lexington.
She will be greatly missed and is survived by her three nieces and their families, Deborah Scott Lawless, her husband, Tom Lawless and their children, Andrew, Sarah, Joshua and Carter Lawless; Stephanie Scott, her husband, Richard Alley and their son, Benjamin Scott Alley; Sherry Scott Aviles and her children, Michael Scott Aviles and Julianne Helen Aviles.
A memorial service will be held on March 10, at 9:30 a.m. at the Old South First Presbyterian Church in Newburyport, Mass. Burial will be private at a later date. The Twomey, LeBlanc & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Ms. Scott’s family with her funeral arrangements.
