Sandra Lee (Burroughs) Clemence of Rowley, daughter of Herman Prescott Burroughs and Ruth (Gilchrest) Burroughs of Boxborough, died at home on March 19, 2017.
She grew up in Boxborough, Mass., on her family’s farm. After high school she worked in Boston as a tax clerk for the law firm of Hale and Dorr until her marriage to George Clemence. After living in New Hampshire, she and her husband settled in Rowley in 1958 and raised their family. She worked for many years at Anna Jacques Hospital, in Central Supply, from which she retired. She was an avid 4-H member while growing up. In Rowley she was a leader in 4-H and Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Plum Island Camera Club and a lifetime member of the Boxborough Grange. Besides her family and friends, her loves were birding and her flower gardens. She is survived by a son Bryon, of Boxborough; a daughter, Martha Smith and her husband Walter of Allston; a son, Alan of Maine and his daughter, Steffi, and her mother Dai Bo of China; a son Paul and his wife Robin of Rowley; four step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Samantha, Rhonda, and Robert; six step-great-grandchildren; and her extended family throughout the country. She was predeceased by her husband George, her twin sister Sylvia Sheehan, and her sister Helen Gorzocoski.
A memorial gathering on April 2, from 1:30 to 4 p.m., at the home of Paul and Robin. All are welcome.
