Samuel David's Story
Samuel David Streiff II, 49, died December 22, 2016, at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass. He was born in Newburyport on July 1, 1967, to Samuel D. Streiff and Susan S. Thomas. He was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1985 and received his B.S. from the University of Hartford in 1990. David was employed by the Harvard Business School of Education, followed by Harvard Graduate School of Education for 20 years as a Senior Systems Administrator. He was a member of the New England States Veteran Firemen's League (Ould Newbury Protection #1 Hand Tub) and enjoyed participating in muster events. He was an avid reader and conversationalist, spending countless hours discussing various topics with family and friends. He also had a fascination with cars, old and new. He was involved in home computers from their onset and owned one of the first available.
David is survived by his mother, Susan Thomas of Newbury; father, Samuel D. Streiff and his wife, Deborah of Rowley; sister, Elizabeth Jewell Streiff Whelan, her husband, Donald and their daughter, Mae of Andover. He also leaves behind his partner, Marie Bayko Chase of Newburyport; maternal aunts, Gail A. Thomas of Candia, N.H., and Joyce E. Thomas of Salisbury; paternal aunt and uncle, Helen S. Dobbins of Rowley and Eric J. Streiff of Boston. David was predeceased by his step-father, Henry A. Christ and his godfather, Charles R. Bennett.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, December 29, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950. Parking available behind the funeral home. His funeral service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the funeral home, followed by burial at Rowley Cemetery.
