Richard "Radar"'s Story
Richard “Radar” Tebbetts, 64, a resident of Salisbury, died Monday, September 26, 2016, at Anna Jaques Hospital. He was born in Newburyport on April 24, 1952, to the late Edward G. and Rita E. (Lambert) Tebbetts. He was raised and educated in Newburyport and was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1970. He then enlisted in the United States Marines and served proudly during the Vietnam War. During his service, Richard was involved with the security of President Nixon when he travelled to California.
Richard was employed as a Laborer for Gould until his retirement. In 1983 he married Bobbi Doyle and the couple settled in Newburyport to raise their family.
He was an avid football fan with a fondness for the Seattle Seahawks, he also enjoyed watching television westerns. He was a member of the North End Boat Club as well as the Neptunes.
Richard is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bobbi (Doyle) Tebbetts of Salisbury; son, Robert E. Tebbetts of Haverhill; granddaughter, McKenna Rose; brothers, George E. Tebbetts and his wife, Judith of Amesbury and Arthur B. Tebbetts and his wife, Janet of Newburyport; as well as several nieces and nephews.
At the request of Richard’s family, funeral services and burial will be private. The Twomey, LeBlanc, & Conte Funeral Home, 193 High St., Newburyport, MA 01950 is assisting Mr. Tebbetts family with his funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s name to the DAV, Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
