Rena M.'s Story
Rena M. Doucet, 84, formerly of 60 High St., passed away Monday morning at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass. She was born in Amesbury on December 17, 1931, daughter of the late Oswald and Dolores (Faucher) Blanchette. She was the wife of the late Joseph G. Doucet.
She grew up and attended schools in Amesbury, graduating from A.H.S. with the Class of 1949. As a young girl, she had volunteered as a candy striper at the Amesbury Hospital, later working at the Parkside Rest Home and also for Poirier's News. She enjoyed traveling with her husband after he retired, making yearly trips to Las vegas.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Doucet and wife, Mary of Bakersfield, Calif., Alan Doucet and his wife, Pam of Brownfield, Maine and James Doucet and his wife, Stephney of Pepperell, Mass.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Drew Doucet.
A funeral Mass for Rena will be celebrated this Thursday December 1, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St., Amesbury, MA. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury will be Wednesday, November 30, from 5 to 7 p.m.
