Text size

Raymond Eliot Peabody, Jr., age 82, of Seabrook, N.H., died Monday evening, July 17, 2017, at his home, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. He was the devoted husband of 52 years to Patricia A. (Andriotakis) Peabody.
Born in Newburyport, February 28, 1935, one of four children of the late Raymond Eliot Peabody, Sr. and Beatrice (Ryan) Peabody, he was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 1954.

Just days after graduating from high school, Raymond entered the United States Navy, serving from June 24, 1954 until his honorable discharge on April 30, 1958 with the rank of MR2.
As a skilled machinist, Raymond worked at Osram Sylvania until his retirement.
He was an avid fisherman, enjoying everything about it, and equally enjoyed clamming. Above all else he loved spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his great-great-grandchild. He was their most dedicated and attentive “Grampy", enriched by their love and always fascinated by their endless antics.
His life’s memories will forever be treasured by his wife and soulmate, Patricia; his children, Raymond E. Peabody, III and wife, Sheryl of Seabrook, N.H., Paula Hollen of Seabrook, N.H., Charles Vajgrt of Hampton Falls, N.H., Sandra Boyle of Ossipee, N.H., and Evelyn Hassett of Texas; his 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his only great-great-grandchild; his three sisters, Linda Richardson of West Newbury, Pamela Willwerth and husband Michael and Susan O’Brien and husband Richard, all of Amesbury, and along with extended family members and many dear friends.
Funeral services and burial will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury.
