Philip Maxime's Story
Philip M. Sicard, resident of Hampton Falls since 1961, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2017, with his loving family by his side. Phil was born in Newburyport, Mass., on September 19, 1936, to Harvey and Annette (St. Jean) Sicard, formerly of Montreal, Quebec. He was raised in Salisbury, Mass., and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, Class of 1954. After high school, Phil went on to attend Tilton Academy, New Hampshire College, and Boston College, where he played football for the BC Eagles.
Phil served as a lifeguard at Salisbury Beach and worked various construction jobs during his high school years. After college, he went on to work for the Federal Government at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and the Naval Sea Systems Command as a project manager and as a quality assurance specialist for 28 years. After working for the government, Phil worked for Life Cycle Engineering in Portsmouth, N.H., as a consultant for submarine maintenance. He was elected to and served on the Winnacunnet School Board as the Hampton Falls representative.
Phil was active in coaching youth sports in the Hampton Falls and Seabrook communities. After retirement, relying on his construction background, Phil formed Home Maintenance Services, a company that provided property maintenance for homeowners. Additionally, Phil served on the Board of Directors at the Newport Country Club Association in Port Charlotte, Fla. He was a proud member of the Katahdin Club in Amesbury and was also an active member of the Elks Lodge #909 in Newburyport for the past 28 years.
Phil was a talented woodworker and meticulous property owner who paid exceptional detail to his yard and home. More importantly, Phil was a true gentleman with honest values that have left an enduring impact on his beloved children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind the love of his life and soulmate in 60 years of marriage, Marjorie (Woodsom) Sicard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, son, Steven Sicard and wife, Karen of Seabrook, N.H.; son, Keith Sicard and wife, Ann of Hampton Falls, N.H.; son, Kyle Sicard and wife, Teri of Seabrook, N.H.; and daughter, Cynthia and husband, John Q. Adams of West Newbury, Mass. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kristie Sicard, David Provencher, Candice Krans, Jeff Provencher, Nikole Provencher, Steven Sicard, Jr., Ashley Adams, Brittany Adams, John Q. Adams IV, Cameron Sicard, and Samantha Sicard; and his great-grandchildren, Joshua Harvey, Cole Provencher, Kaylin Provencher, and Carter Jewell Krans. Phil is also survived by a sister, Jean Kutzko of Auburn, Mass. He was predeceased by his sister, Alva Fogg, and his brother, Leon Sicard.
Phil also leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and innumerable lifelong friends. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.
Services will be private for the family, with burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Hampton Falls. A celebration of life will be held in the spring at a date to be announced at a later time. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, MA 01913.
