Marie A.'s Story
Marie Fairbanks passed away on October 31, at the Exeter Hospital with her loving family at her side. She was born in Amesbury, Mass., on July 13, 1928, daughter of the late Alfred and Eva (St. Hilaire) Levesque. She was the wife of the late Joel A. Fairbanks, Jr., who passed away in 1990.
She grew up and attended schools in Amesbury and went on to work for CBS Hytron of Newburyport. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the N.E. Patriots and Nascar. She enjoyed reading, various puzzles, and music, with a fondness for Johnny Cash. Known to her family as Memere, family meant everything to her and she was an incredible mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all of her family.
She is survived by four sons, Joel Fairbanks III of Exeter, N.H., Douglas Fairbanks of Berlin, N.H., Robert Fairbanks and his wife, Jacqueline of Amesbury, and Thomas Fairbanks of Exeter, N.H.; one daughter, Linda Cook and her husband, Roland of Statesville, N.C.; one brother, Richard Levesque of Merrimac, Mass.; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated this Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St., Amesbury. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury are Thursday, Nov. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m.
