Marian L.'s Story

Mrs. Marian L. Granese, age 87, of Ossipee, N.H., died Friday, February 24, 2017, after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Anthony Granese, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Born and raised in Saugus, she was the daughter of the late George and Agnes Hannon. She lived in Swampscott and Danvers prior to moving to Ossipee in 1994. The Graneses also spent winters in Orlando, Florida since 1986. Her life was dedicated to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Earlier in life she worked for Stone and Webster Engineering and various banks in Boston as a bookkeeper. Later in life she worked as a realtor for Vernon A. Martin. Marian was an avid golfer, enjoying the greens as a member of the Ventura Country Club in Orlando, Fla., and the Indian Mound Golf Club in Ossipee, N.H., where she achieved a “hole in one” and then 17 years later, achieved her second. She was an integral part of the Committee for Rally for the Cure, annually held at the Ventura Country Club. Every year she vowed to attain more donations than the year before and always exceeded expectations. She was also an active member of the Sunshine Club. She was a longtime parishioner of St. John’s Church as well as Holy Family Church.
She is survived by her children, Michael Granese of Tewksbury, Laurie Walton and her husband, Sean of Ossipee, N.H., Richard Granese and his wife, Donna of Newburyport, and Sherren Granese and her husband, Jack Henebury of Newton; 10 grandchildren, Michael Granese and his wife, Lisa, Joseph Granese, Stacey Granese, Katie Bliss and her husband, Bryan, Anthony “Tony” Granese, Kerri George, Donald Granese, Jeffrey, Matthew, and Molly Henebury; along with 14 great-grandchildren.
Marian’s funeral will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at 9 a.m. from the Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean St. (Route 1A), Lynn, MA 01902, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Lynn, followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, February 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marian’s name to the Rally for the Cure, c/o Mrs. Lynn Karcsh, 3471 Pinebrook Ct., Orlando, FL 32822.
