Text size

Margaret J.C. (Stuart) Krafton of Amesbury, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at home on Tuesday, July 25, 2017.
Margaret was born on July 26, 1936, in Greenock, Scotland to George and Margaret (Cameron) Stuart. She came to the USA to work in 1960 and met the love of her life, James Krafton. They married and settled in Amesbury for the next 55 years. While raising her eight children, she worked on becoming a U.S. citizen. Margaret also worked for many years at the Horace Mann School in Amesbury and was also a very active member at Holy Family Parish in Amesbury.
Margaret’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She took a house and made it a loving home for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, where they knew they could always go for comfort, love, and support. She also took great pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was actively involved in their lives. Margaret was very proud of her Scottish heritage and passed that on to her family with hours of stories of the homeland. Margaret will be remembered for her quick wit, beautiful smile, and the way her eyes would light up a room. She will be greatly missed.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 55 years, James Krafton; her eight children and their spouses, David and Cindy Krafton of Salisbury, Steven and Dawn Krafton of Exeter, N.H., Christopher Krafton of Amesbury, Margaret and David Santosuosso of South Hampton, N.H., Timothy and Erin Krafton of E. Wakefield, N.H., Michael and Christa Krafton of Raymond, N.H., Jonathan Krafton of Haverhill, and Matthew and Shane Krafton of E. Wakefield, N.H. She also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, James, Benjamin, Daniel, Anastasia, Joseph, Amy, Katlyn, Margaret, Jesse, Casey, Christopher, Holly, Joshua, Nathaniel, Rebecca, Vale, Samantha, Grace, and Matthew; as well as three great-granddaughters, Margaret, Juliana, and Bristol. Margaret also leaves behind her sister, Julia Rafferty and her husband, Tom of Middlesborough, England; and her brother, Norie Stuart and his wife, Hillary of Exeter, England; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Margaret will be held this Thursday, July 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home, 118 Friend St., Amesbury, MA. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Parish Church, 2 School St. in Amesbury followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
