Lowell's Story

Lowell Connors, age 25, of Newburyport, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

Born in Newburyport on February 13, 1992, he was the beloved son of Lori Connors and was a graduate of Newburyport High School, Class of 2010. After high school, Lowell attended New England Culinary Institute in Vermont. While doing his first internship at Bondir Cambridge, he was able to work side by side with one of his culinary idols, Jason Bond, and was fortunate enough to cook at The James Beard House during this time. After his stint at Bondir, Lowell returned to Newburyport were he was employed at Ceia Restaurant for many years, just recently moving on to work at Tiger Mama in Boston. Outside the kitchen Lowell loved to spend time with his family, friends and at the North End Boat Club, where he was a 4th generation member.

Lowell was an extraordinary young man who never failed to make the people around him laugh and smile. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his mother, Lori, he leaves behind his grandparents, Joyce and Daniel Connors; his uncle and two aunts, Danny and Nancy Connors and Jody Connors, all of Newburyport, and Tracy and Greg Lynch of Kingston, N.H.; cousins, Nicole, Leah, Masen, Kristen, Jamie, Eric, Jennifer, Megan, Kelsey and Erin; along with many other aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends and his little buddy, “Leo the cat.”

Lowell’s family would like to thank all for the outpouring of love, support and prayers. Lowell’s mom would like to give a special thank you to Lowell’s close friends, Carlie Schene, Eric Eramo, Jimmy Riley, Pat Creamer, Nancy Caswell and the rest of the crew at Ceia and Tiffani Faison and the crew at Tiger Mama for all their help during this difficult time.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the East Parish United Methodist Church, 8 Lafayette Road, Salisbury, followed by burial in Long Hill Cemetery, Salisbury. After the burial, there will be a celebration of life at the North End Boat Club, 1 Manson Street, Newburyport. Donations in his memory may be made to the Lowell Connors Culinary Scholarship Fund, c/o Newburyport Five Cent Savings Bank, P.O. Box 350, Newburyport, MA 01950. Arrangements are by Elliott, Woodworth & Rogers Family Funeral Home, 35 Green Street, Newburyport.
