Louise H.'s Story
Louise E. (Harris) Delande, 88, of Ft. Myers, Fla., beloved wife of the late Arthur W. Delande, passed away peacefully Friday, June 9, 2017, at her home in Danvers.
Born September 4, 1928, in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Louise and Floyd Harris, and sister to the late Jeanne McGrath, Anne Pelletier, and Paul Harris. She was raised and educated in Salem, where she graduated from Ste. Chretienne Academy and Salem Hospital School of Nursing.
Louise was an active participant in several communal clubs and activities. She was a passionate member of the Danvers Garden Club since 1963. She was a master flower show judge, a member of the Massachusetts Judges Council, and National Council Flower Show Judge emeritus. Louise was an exceptionally talented flower show designer, having won numerous ribbons and awards, including the John Taylor Arms Award for creative design. Louise was an avid golfer and a member of both the Over Par Golf League and the Gateway Golf and Country Club for many years. Louise and Arthur loved traveling the world together. They enjoyed vacationing in the Caribbean, skiing in the Alps, and exploring the European countryside.
Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her four children, David Delande of South Hamilton, Lee McMath and her husband, John of Hampton Falls, N.H., Susan Powell and her husband, John of Hampton, N.H., and Richard Delande and his wife, Pamela of Newburyport. Louise was an enormous inspiration and lively presence to her nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St., Route 114, Middleton.
